Is there a solution other than getting different software?first off I do not know Bob for SW, but I do know SW very well.so i'll ask this.Ī single line or any single no width geom in SW can not make a no thickness solid, just a surface with no thickness, in HSMWorks there is a stick font option they added for this. This file contains bidirectional Unicode text that may be interpreted or compiled differently than what appears below. Or you can use a single-line font, and simply use the laser beam to 'draw' along the path, forming a smooth letter.

You could raster a normal font (shading in the black areas) but this would take time. For example, suppose you have a laser cutter and want to mark text on something. Is there a solution other than getting different software? Single-line fonts (also called engraving fonts, technical lettering fonts, pen plotter fonts) are hugely useful when performing machining or drawing operations.
Arial single line font code#
But for some reason the Solidworks/Bobcam mix seems unable to generate code using a simple stick font. Have done it easily with a number of CAD/CAM packages (G-Zero, Geopath, Gibbscam, Mastercam, Solidwords, Featurecam to name some). As shown, it only affects single line text. Guys, this is a very basic need - engraving stick fonts. and Ive narrowed it down to the Arial.ttf font acting strangely. If we change the font to the stick font, then Solidworks generates errors when trying to close the sketch, complaining about the lack of closed contours etc. If we generate the text using a truetype font like Arial, Solidworks will extrude it and Bobcam will generate code for it, but we don't want the engraving tool to be outlining the font, we want a stick font or the tool to just do the center of the font with a single stroke. Solidworks refuses to extrude the stick font.

If we just use a sketch of the text using the stick font OLF SimpleSansOC in Solidworks, there are no errors in SW, but Bobcam V2 doesn't recognize that there is any object to be machined and won't generate a tool path. Width will vary depending on the number of letters selected, but we will make sure it is not.

We are trying to engrave some products with it, but the software keeps on generating errors when we try to use a stick font. This is a single line font that measures about 0.75 tall. printed text Many web designers say that san serif fonts, such as Arial or Verdana. MecSoft Font is garbage, and every other font that I’ve found that claims to be a single stroke font is not as advertised, and is often unreadable. We have Bobcam (not Bobcad/cam) V2 and Solidworks 2014. screen which including font size, blank space, text line spacing.
